The jewel in the crown of the new Philipp Plein collection is the first and exclusive phygital style SPP008. The term ‘Phygital’ derives from the union of the words ‘physical’, meaning that the product is real, and ‘digital’, meaning that it is associated with an NFT.

The limited-edition sunglasses style of just 1,000 pieces – 500 of each colour – will be available from the end of November. Every physical frame will be combined with an exclusive box equipped with a video screen offering a preview of the unique version of the NFT (non-fungible token), a one-of-a-kind digital object, archived in the Blockchain.

The exclusivity of the NFT will be guaranteed by a QR code found within the special box, which the user will simply need to scan with their smartphone.

Style SPP008 is characterised by a decisive and modern design, and is available in two colour options: the 703V version with matte black acetate, gold-coloured metal and rainbow mirrored lens, and the 700X version with glossy black acetate, gunmetal metal and silver mirrored lens.

The NFT variant of the style is designed by Crypto King$, the artistic duo born of the collaboration between Philipp Plein and 3D visual designer of international fame, Antoni Tudisco.

Cat. 0 lenses
Are either clear or have a very light tint, they are used for safety glasses or spectacles where you need to see clearly what you are doing.

Cat. 1 lenses
Are for casual use, used as a comfort filter in cosmetic and fashion eye wear.
Suitable for: Fashion.

Cat. 2 lenses
Are the most common category to be found in sunglasses, for general use they provide good protection from visible light and from UV rays. This lens will have a tint which allows through less light than category 1 but more light than category 3.
Suitable for: General Purpose, watching and taking part in sport.

Cat. 3 lenses
Provide extra protection from both visible and UV light. These lenses will usually only allow less than 20% of visible light to penetrate the lens. This means that they will block out 80%+ of light.
Suitable for open mountain ranges.

Cat. 4 lenses
Provide a high level of protection from visible and UV light. These lenses are not to be worn when driving as they are too dark. These lenses will al low less than 10% of light to transmit through the lens. They are to be used for specific situations only – not for a pair of everyday sunglasses.
Suitable for: High altitude trekking and mountaineering.
